Hi all

I have manged to full the disks on my dpm server.
As a result my jobs are now failing.
If I cut down on my short term retension period will this recover some disk
space or is there a better way?

cheers

The quickest way I can see is to look at the recovery point volume sizes - if
space allocated is more than that which is used, decrease this value which
will in term free-up space.
{right-click protected object in protection group, click 'modfiy disk
allocation'}
DPM by default allocates more space than required when creating protection
groups.

worked for me.
hope it helps

Folks - Please remember that you should not decrease Recovery Point volume
size.

I assume one should not reduce it as this will lessen the recovery points
available. Is that right.

What if you modify the protection grou short term retention from say 60 days
to 30. Will this remove the data that is >30 days old?

Yes. DPM will remove recovery points older than 30 days if you modify the
retention range from 60 to 30.
