DPM 2010 System state backup error

Hi there

We are protecting 3 blades running Widows 2008, all backup operations are
going as planned, save for the system state on all blades, I have checked the
event logs on the blades and found that VSS was not running on 2 of the
blades so I started this service but I still get the same error reported when
I try the job again.

I have also made sure that windows server backup is installed on all 3
blades but I still get the same error, we have plenty of space on the
protected machines for saving the system state backup. ERROR details below,



Affected area: Computer\System Protection
Occurred since: 23/06/2010 15:15:17
Description: The replica of System Protection Computer\System Protection on
EDUSENBLADE2.sen.glasgow.sch.uk is inconsistent with the protected data
source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica
is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing
recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica
is consistent.


DPM cannot create a backup because Windows Server Backup (WSB) on the
protected computer encountered an error (WSB Event ID: 546, WSB Error Code:
0x80780138). (ID 30229 Details: Internal error code: 0x809909FB)

Please Help I need to know, this DPM would drive you insane

Hi Dempsico,

When backing up Windows 2008 Servers System State you need to install
Windows Server Backup. This can be done from Server Manager\Features. Click
Add Features and then select Windows Backup Features.

Try running the backup again. It should work for you now.

We aleady installed Windows Server Backup. But still it shows the same error message.
