Hi,

Is there a 32 bit version of DPM2010 RC? I downloaded the RC from the
Microsoft Connect site and tried to run it on my server that currently runs
2007 to upgrade it and it said it was not a vaild win32 application.

The download did not specify weather it was 32 bit or 64 bit really. I
remember in a couple of webcasts they said that a 32 bit version would be
available.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks

DPM 2010 will only run on a WS08 & WS08R2 x64 machine

If you are running DPM 2007 SP1 on an x64 machine, then you there will be an inplace upgrade

If you are running DPM 2007 SP1 on a x86 machine, there is a documented process to migrate from x86 to x64 (within DPM 2007 SP1), which most customers often do as they outgrow the x86 backup server

Once on x64, you have a path to DPM 2010.

Well...shoot.

Thanks everyone, and Jason (I am a watcher of your blog). Could you link me
to this documented process you speak of so I can start ruining my week now ;).

Thanks!

Hi Ehren,

No there won't be a 32-bit version of DPM2010. It is supported on Windows
Server 2008 x64 and R2 x64.
If your server hardware supports x64, there is still a (long) upgrade
procedure which should go something like:

* Protect DPMDB
* Uninstall DPM2007 with data retention (keep DPM disks)
* Fresh install of W2008 R2 x64
* Bring DPM disks online
* Install DPM2007 x64
* Add existing DPM disks to DPM pool
* Restore DPMDB: dpmsync -RestoreDB -DBLoc [location DPMDB]
* Recover DPM Replica's: dpmsync -sync (do not stop this process, it can
take some time!)
* Upgrade to DPM2010 RC
* Upgrade DPM agents
