DPM problem with tape backup and free tapes.

I have created a new protection group that I want to backup directly to tape.
I choose the protection method "short-term using tape".

We have a IBM library and currently 4 tapes in the library. 1 Tape is
written with data from another protection group, and 3 tapes are free and are
reported as free.
All the tapes are located in the slots.
When I want to backup this protection group to tape, the following error
occures:

"Failed to perform the operation since the tape free tape is not available
in Stand Alone Drive Tape Library IBM ULT3580-TD3 SCSI Sequential Device (ID
24050)"

Yes, there is no tape in the drive, but I have 3 free tapes in the library !!!
Why can't DPM take a free tape from the library and put it in the drive ?
How can I overcome this ?

Thank you.

Hi Bogdan,

In the Error description its given Stand alone tape drive are you using a
Stand Alone tape.
In the Library management UI are you able to see your IBM library and is it
shown as Stand Alone tape.

Thanks
Mukul

It's a IBM Tape library with 24 tape capacity.
In the Library management i see :

Library: IBM TotalStorage 3573 Tape Library
- Drives
IBM ULT3580-TD3 SCSI Sequential Device -
- Slots
Slot 1 - Tape Available - Free
Slot 5 - Tape Available - Free
Slot 9 - Tape Available - Other protection group
Slot 10 - Tape Available - Free

I made a screenshot if you think that will help troubleshoot this.
Thanks.

Looks like DPM detects your Tape library as StandAloneDrive. Can you do a
Rescan on the library management UI? This should update the LibraryUI. Make
sure that the library is not detected as StandAloneDrive and then retry
backup.

Also make sure that Device Manager detects and shows the tape library.
